Our first Group of the Knight - the Liz Soper Foundation of Care
A couple weeks ago, Jani-King (NZ) had the privilege of partnering with the Liz Soper Foundation of Care for an unforgettable experience at the Auckland FC vs. Newcastle Jets football match. As hosts of the Group of the Knight and official partners to our friends at Auckland FC the day was a perfect blend of excitement, connection, and meaningful impact.
Despite a bit of rain, the atmosphere was electric! Fans braved the weather, embodying the true spirit of live sports – cheering, laughing, and soaking in every moment (sometimes literally). The passion for the game was palpable, and the experience of being up close and personal with the action made it all the more special for everyone involved.
Standout Moments and Why They Matter
One of the most touching aspects of the day was seeing how meaningful this opportunity was for the adults supported by the Liz Soper Foundation of Care. For many people, attending a live sports event is something fun, but not thought of as a major, but for others with complex disabilities, they rarely get to experience events such as these due to financial and accessibility barriers. As Clara Budd, managing director of Creative Abilities told us “There are many simple things in life that lots of our community take for granted, like being able to attend a live sports game. … When you don't have the ability to work and save money these extra's in life are out of reach...”. The Foundation reminds us, simple joys like these are often taken for granted by many, yet they hold immense value for those facing complex disabilities.
A standout moment? The sheer joy of the group connecting with others, sharing in the energy of the crowd, and feeling like an integral part of the game. These moments remind us of the power of inclusion and the importance of breaking down barriers to access.

And let’s not forget the quirky moments! Excited, drenched spectators were a highlight, proving that a little rain can’t dampen the spirits of true fans.
