Community and Connection at Auckland FC

Speed freaks fun

We were proud to have The Speed Freaks as our Group of the Knight at the Auckland FC vs Central Coast Mariners match this weekend, an experience that brought together sport, community and a cause that truly deserves the spotlight.

Speed Freaks is an incredible charity that supports people on their journey of recovery from addiction and mental distress through running, walking and strong community connection. Their kaupapa centres on health, belonging and support, creating safe spaces where people can rebuild confidence, establish positive routines and feel part of something bigger than themselves.

Recovery can often be an isolating road, but Speed Freaks helps change that. By simply bringing people together to move, talk and support one another, they foster connection, accountability and hope. It is not just about fitness. It is about whanaungatanga, encouragement and reminding people they are not alone. That is something truly worth celebrating.

We were thrilled to host members of the Speed Freaks community at the match, giving them the chance to enjoy a memorable night of football and connection together. Hosting the Auckland FC 'Group of the Knight' is about more than just the game. Being able to give back to organisations that do incredible work in the community is what it's all about.

A big thank you to Auckland FC for being such fantastic partners and for helping make moments like this possible. Their commitment to supporting community initiatives beyond the pitch makes a real difference, and we are proud to work alongside an organisation that values connection as much as performance.

Here’s to community, courage and connection, and to organisations like Speed Freaks who continue to uplift and empower people every single day.
